In this one-hour online workshop taught by working professional graphic designer Jon Hébert, you’ll learn how to apply graphic design concepts to make your pieces stand out in the crowd. You'll learn tips and techniques as we explore graphic design concepts related to:

  • Color, in all aspects of your design

  • Design elements, such as illustrations and photography

  • Typography, meaning fonts

  • Layout, which is the position of elements on the page

As we explore each of the four basics, we’ll look at how I applied them to numerous real-world projects, including a website, a book cover, and a flier. Plus, I’ll share insider design tips and techniques I’ve learned over my 20+ year career.

Who this class is for:

  • This class is ideal for entrepreneurs, artists, musicians, writers, teachers, business owners, and employees who aren't trained in design, but must work with programs like Canva, Squarespace, WordPress, or Adobe software as part of their job.

  • The course is also a good fit for students, and can supplement any design program lessons.

  • If you are a professional designer who hasn't practiced in a while, this class is the perfect refresher course to reacquaint you with graphic design basics.

  • If you're curious about graphic design, this course is the ultimate primer.

Who should not take this class:

This workshop will not delve into technical details or software tutorials. Instead, it focuses on graphic design theory and provides you with techniques, tips, and tricks you can apply in any software, and to any piece (from landing pages to business cards to logos and beyond).

You should, however, have a working knowledge of design software such as Canva, Squarespace, or Adobe.

How do I attend?

The class is presented through Zoom, and there will be a live Q&A. You’ll receive a copy of the slide presentation for keeping. You can connect on any internet-enabled device (computer or phone). After registering, you’ll get an email with a link to join the Zoom class. If you can’t attend live, a recording will be available for a limited time, and you’ll receive a copy of the slides to keep.

*A recording of the workshop will be made for all attendees.
