Your 2024 marketing plan

Here are the best tools you can leverage today to enhance your digital marketing. The ideal strategy uses all of these elements in conjunction, and they work best when further combined with captivating storytelling and bold, inventive graphic design.

Your Website - Is your homepage compelling? Is there a clear call-to-action for visitors to take? Is the most important information ‘above the fold?’ Aside from these important questions, ensure that your website is ultra-easy to navigate, and that it is optimized for phones, as Google still gives search result preference for mobile-optimized websites.

Your Blog - If you’ve been thinking of blogging, now is the time to start. Blogs position you as an expert in your field, but, more importantly, they help with SEO, keywords, and organic search placement. Plus, you can use your articles as evergreen content to share across social media and in your email newsletter. Keep your articles around 500-750 words, and don’t forget to pepper in those all-important search terms.

Email Newsletter - Followers. Likes. Shares. Social media is a great way to engage with your customers, but as we’ve seen with the changes at Twitter and with the disappearance of companies like MySpace, social media will come and go. What’s here to stay? Email. That’s why your email newsletter is such an important tool: customers sign up to receive your information, and they’re eagerly awaiting it. MailChimp’s free account lets you have up to 2,000 subscribers, and includes analytics and automation.

Social Media Strategy - While posting and sharing is important, having a strategy to drive your campaigns will take them to the next level. This is where storytelling and planning come into play. These days, it’s common for a business to prepare posts a month in advance, if not three or six months out. Posting with intention—and using design templates—can drive customer engagement and get those precious followers better than an off-the-cuff posting approach.

Content Marketing - One buzzword you’ll hear this year is content marketing: developing useful content such as blogs, newsletters, whitepapers, social media posts, emails, videos and the like to convey your expertise and company values. Done right, this inbound marketing tool attracts customers and builds loyalty, making it effective for customer retention.
